Feed The Needy

"Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity"

It was the mid of May 2020, the super cyclone Amphan hits India. It caused a lot of damage to the people in the coastal regions of the country. Trichy being in the middle land, was left unaffected by the cyclone, although the cyclone has made the atmosphere dry and removed the moisture from it. The sky was clear and the air was hot. The country was still under a passive kind of  Lock-down. The saddest part was that of the government opening its alcoholic bars at this high time of the pandemic. We were planning for our project and while talking and discussing with our friends we came to know about a trust called 'Manitham Trust' taking care of the old aged and orphans in Trichy.

The Plan

We planned to help them feed the orphans and the old people they are supporting. They have lots of needs like medicine, food, nursing requirements, funds for billing and many more. We choose to help them with food materials that they can use for preparing food. We planned to give them 30 kg rice, 10 kg toor dal  and 10 kg wheat flour. 

A Glimpse of Manitham Trust

Manitham Trust was started and successfully run by a group of social science graduates interested in serving the society. Their story on how they started was really inspiring. After graduating from college, they wanted to start a 'home' for the unattended people in the society. But due to the financial deficit, they planned to go to work, earn and then start the home of their dream. And everything happened as they planned. In around the year 2016 they started this Manitham Trust, under which there is a old-age home and an orphanage. The old age home is located at Trichy, Tamil Nadu and their orphanage is located at Siruganur, town in Trichy district. This story of theirs will always stay as a motivation for Universal Help Club.

The Visit

We contacted them by phone and informed them about our plan. They readily invited us to their old age home to deliver the aid that we prepared. Three of us from Universal Help Club packed our aid and set for the Manitham old age home. After reaching there we gave them the aid. Then we discussed about their projects and their services. They took us around the old age home, the aged people gave us a inviting smile. The time we spent there was really blissful.
