Relief 1.0 : Grocery Kit Distribution

" What will explain to you what the steep path is? It is to free a slave, to feed at a time of hunger an orphaned relative or a poor person in distress, and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion."

Peace be upon you all. At the beginning of the month of April we started planning for our project. The climate was very hot accompanied by hot breeze and the sun. Thinking of what to do and where to do, we remembered our very first project "Feed the poor #Corona-Virus".

Groundwork

If you knew about our first project, you would have already guessed what we have planned. After planning to give grocery kits to needy and poor families in Edamalaipatti Pudur, we now had to decide on whom to give and how to deliver it. After some discussions we asked one of our team member from that area to go and do a small survey. Based on the survey we asked him to choose thirty families from there as our beneficiary. Instead of carrying the grocery kits from house to house, we planned to give tokens to each house with necessary information about the date, time and place to collect the grocery kit. Then we had to place an order and buy the grocery items. We only buy quality grocery as its our policy to give only what we will use ourselves. Then we asked the help from the store to pack and make separate kits. Then our team members picked it up and transported it to the house of our team member in E-Pudur. There they arranged the kits the night before the event.

The Event

On 16th April, 2022, we gathered together in our friend's house and eventually the beneficiary people started coming. We verified the tokens and distributed the grocery kits. All praises and thanks to the God, we planned for 30 families but as we received more donation than the expected amount, we were able to benefit 40 families. At this moment of time we thank all our donors and supporters for helping us in serving and helping all these families. The relief, smile and joy on their faces can only be experienced and cannot be explained here. 

The Kit

Now coming to the contents of each grocery kit. 

• 5 Kgs of Rice
• 1 Kg of Wheat Flour
• 1 Kg of Rava
• 1 Kg of Toor Dal
• 1 Kg of Urad Dal
• 1 Kg of Sugar
• 1 Kg of Salt
• 50g of Raisin and Cashew
• A packet of Chilli Powder
• A packet of Semiya

We also took care of the quality and bought only good quality materials as we buy for our own use.
